Dundalk, Republic of Ireland

The practice was involved in a number of projects in Ireland with Colin Buchanan & Partners including development frameworks for various sectors of Ennis, and a sub-regional framework for South Fingal. In Dundalk the practice was responsible for the urban design aspects for the town centre regeneration project and produced a conceptual masterplan for a major business and employment scheme in the south-west sector of the town for the Irish Development Agency.  The regeneration project involved reconnecting parts of the town centre to create a new series of squares and public spaces. Opening out the river, creating a new gateway from the south, and identifying new development opportunities all led to the beginnings of a regeneration of the town centre. The town is also the home of Xerox and the IDA's desire to reinforce Dundalk as a centre for high-tech business led to a masterplan and more detailed landscape proposals for the link between the motorway and the core of the business area.
