Colindale Development Framework

The practice led the framework programme to guide development in the north London suburb of Colindale. This area is under great pressure for renewal and the overall character has to change. The project mapped the various development opportunities, promoted a series of development scenarios, and helped the GLA and the London Development Agency establish some criteria for S.106 negotiations. Three major projects emerged, Grahame Park regeneration, which sees the renewal of a 1960/70s estate, RAF East Camp, a redundant MoD site, and Colindale Hospital which is relocating. The project involved urban design analysis, a strategy for linking the whole area together, potential traffic and transport interventions, and a set of specific site studies designed to ensure the framework was feasible.
